When should I start the procedure for a post study residence permit?

For job search RP: As soon as you have your study completion proof you can start the procedure, the latest 2 week before your current residence permit/Visa expires.

If you don't receive your study completion proof before your visa expires, we can submit all other necessary documents and wait foe the study completion proof so that you remains legal in German and keep your current working rights meanwhile.

For RP for work: As soon as you have a work contract which is qualified for you and you know that the salary is not underpaid respective to the job position as such, you can start the procedure, the latest 2 week before your actual residence permit/Visa expires.
